Super Hero Fruits and Veggies to the Rescue!

If you have picky eaters, like I do, you’re going to love this!  My kids are always ready for something sweet, so fruit is always popular in our house, but it’s been a bit of a struggle to get them to eat their veggies.  Then I started to realize that when I change something just a little bit, they’re so much more inclined to eat it.  For example, when I un-tossed our salads and put the ingredients in a row they loved it!  Then I found little round carrots at Trader Joes, called “Parisian Carrots” and they gobbled them up.  So, to encourage them to eat a rainbow of fruits and veggies everyday I created these Super Heros.  I just printed them out on cardstock, folded the paper in half and I prop the appropriate cards up next to their plates. The idea that they’re putting “super hero” powers into their own bodies by eating the right foods.

See those little orange balls next to the strawberries? Those are the Parisian Carrots! So cute!

Our daily goal is to eat at least one food from each color of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue) – including fruits and veggies, so there’s a Super Hero for each color category.

If you want to give my Super Heros a try with your kids just click on the orange bar at the top of the home page and I’ll email you the pdfs.  Each character card comes with a description of that color’s super powers.
